The Church of "Get Cha Mind Right".

This ain’t how I meant for this to go down, and I promise you I’ll get back to your regularly scheduled Royal grumpiness post-haste.

You know, when I started this blog, I was bored. My then favorite site was shut down. I needed something to do. I was running from work, and I was running from my own boring life. But I can’t run from the Lord and what He obviously told me to do. I ain’t even safe from God in cyberspace. This wasn’t a place for my religious views. I thought that was between me and the Lord. But now I see there is a bigger picture out there. It’s not just between Him and me, because He is everywhere and everything points back to Him. I’ve found a few folks out there who remind me a lot of myself. Some of y’all may feel like we do, and just not have made yourself known to the Queen, and that’s aiight. But I know you’re coming through. So while I’m here, I’mma tell y’all that ain’t nothing wrong with loving the Lord your own way. Some folks don’t know Him, don’t acknowledge Him for whatever reason. I ain’t about to sit here and virtually bitch slap you into submission. This ain’t about that. But I need to take a second to address this, because it’s on my mind.

In the comments of the last post, the homie G.C. brought up a good point. There is a new generation of Christian. It’s our generation. There’s nothing wrong with the old school at all. But times change. I have a problem with faith that refuses to adapt. The Lord is for everyone. No matter what you look like, what you wear, who you date, what you listen to on the radio, whether or not you dance, the Lord is here for you too. Not just your grandma. Our generation is coming up short in the Jesus department because the Ol’ Negro Spiritual’s make Him unattainable. That is so unfair. I don’t know if there is such a thing, but I’m about to start a support group for the New-Booty Christians out there. Because it ain’t the 50’s anymore. We’re different, times are different. Is God different? No. He’s the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. But best believe He’s more than equipped to handle whatever this new stankin’ millennium has brought up in here. God FORGIVES, people. Our generation needs to focus on that, and being less judgmental and more open to differences in people. We got to get this right NOW, because we’re propagating at an alarming rate. We got to get this straight for the kids, y’all. We’ll be at their mercy before too long. There is no generic recipe for Christians, aside from “just add Jesus” and “love your neighbor as yourself”. The rest is on you.

Its like this y’all. I joke a lot on here. If you were to see me in person, I’d be just like I am on here with no cut. I act a fool because I can. But I have a serious side, mainly when it comes to the Lord. I grew up hardcore Christian, and I attribute my success to that and my momma stomping various mudholes in me when necessary. I taught Sunday School for years. I’m on the senior usher board at church. I’m now the Young Women’s Coordinator at my church. I am currently in process of heading to Fuller Theological Seminary for my Masters of Systematic Theology degree. Didn’t know that, did cha? And you wouldn’t. Because it ain’t me to smack you upside the head with my holiness when I’ve got so many shortcomings all out in the open. But I’mma tell you like this. If you need prayer, I’m here. If you need someone to talk to, I’m here. If you got questions, I’ll do my best to answer them, and if I can’t I’ll find someone who can. I’m gonna stick it out w/ my young ones in the Lord because that’s what He would have me to do. I ain’t running from my Christianity on the net or nowhere else. Yeah I’m grumpy. I complain a hell of a lot. I can cuss you out completely by accident, just by saying a complete sentence. I have road rage. We all know my battle with keeping the % to myself. But in spite of all that, God loves me. So I gotta keep it real w/ him and y’all. God is everything to me. I’ve got a lot to work on. But with His help, I’mma be just fine. And so will you. Get at me.

And with that, I’m out.

Man, I'm speechless. Good looking out, Misty. I knew that no matter what, everything the Lord leads me to do will enable me to meet and confide in folks who are new school Christians, who ain't afraid to give it to you hard core and uncut. It just crept up on me with this blogging thing. Lauryn Hill said "Everyday people lie to God too so what makes you think that they won't lie to you." I can tell that we are both trying to be honest with God behind closed doors and out here for blogging eyes to see. Jesus knows that I have a problem with spending money before I get it, expelling expletives and who knows what, but I'm happy that I can admit that and try to do better. I'm feeling that a weight has been lifted of your shoulders. We're all on the same rough road to heaven, acting a fool the whole way. In your words, "keep doing your thing, girl."

Thanks cousin. And you're right. Folks need to be able to confide, discuss, hell how about unite in the Lord for a change. We're all on the same road if we acknowledge ourselves as Christians. Instead of knocking folks off the side of the cliff when they screw up, we need to have our hands out to pull they backsliding butts up onto the pavement. I'm disgusted with most of the Christians I know, and I make it a point to do the exact opposite of the scanless mess I see from them on a daily. Come real, or don't come at all. Because ultimately, God sees clean through you when other folks cant. And thats the truth if it ain't never been told.
